Sensational SLJ Team!

THANK YOU SLJ TEAM!

I want to say a huge thanks to the summer learning journey team we really appreciate the effort you put into your comments and the tasks. I loved every single task! If I did have a favourite SLJ task it would have to be either the colourblock landscape step it up task because I think I learnt the most from that task like how to make palm trees and add 2 gradients together. The other task would be my whenua because I feel like that task was fun because it required a bit of research about the whenua you choose, my whenua was kennedy park in Levin and I found out it was quite possibly named after president Kennedy (JFK). But all the tasks were great!  I also liked the addition of the step it up and kick start challenges because people that need the tasks a bit harder could do the step it up task and other that found the tasks a bit hard could do the kick start tasks. Overall a very fun 2023-2024 summer learning jouney, Thanks! I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their holidays with their family and friends!

Nice Nature Creature!

Afternoon Blog readers,

today I did the fun art @ am challenge! I took a photo of a daisy in my front garden and turned it into a little smiley happy creature! My creatures name is smiley and I think you can probably guess why! Smiley like sitting in the sun and talking to her other plant friends! I created smiley but 1 taking a photo of a plant outside, 2 creating the stem and face by using shapes on the insert button and 3 putting  them all in the right places to make a cute little creature! My flower sort of reminds me of a flower girl at a wedding because smiley is a flower and she’s a girl! Next time I think I would make something like roots for her legs so she can walk around and put a leaf on the other side as her hands. My favourite part was deciding what creature I was going to make and I found it hard to get the right shapes. If you were going to make a creature out of the nature at your house what creature would you make? That is all for todays blog post I will blog to you later!

My Posh Pooch!

Greetings dear blog readers,

today I have completed the fun art @ pm task! I absolutely LOVED this task I thought it was so funny! My dog Maggie is a beardie cross with a hunterway and I made her posh! She’s got lipstick, a flower hat, sunglasses and a gorgeous silver necklace! My favourite part about this task was getting to dress my dog up in google draw! When I showed my sister she said you don’t even need to add anything to Maggie she’s already posh which is totally true! I think my background colour I chose blends in a bit too much with the hat so next time I think I need to change that. I thought she looked just super cute and I love her outfit! The part I found took the longest was removing the backgrounds off all the images but it was totally worth it! What sort of pets do you have and what are their names? I have a budgie called Aqua but I thought she might be quite hard to dress up and get a photo of her through her cage. Then of course I have Maggie! I also learnt about anthropomorphism which is to give a human characteristics or behaviour to a god, animal or object. That’s today’s SLJ task and I hope you enjoyed it, chow for now!

Hardworking Hybrid Sports!

Kon’nichiwa blog readers,

today i’ve done the hybrid sports step it up challenge. I made a game called tagball! Tagball is a combination of 2 of my favourite sports, netball and tag! Netball is one of my favourite sports because all of my friends are in my team and I really enjoy the competitiveness of the sport and the fact that we all work really hard to play at our best! I like tag because at school it is a game we often play on the playground in our morning tea and lunch breaks and sometimes our whole class plays. What is your favourite sport and why? I had a go at playing tagball with my sister and it was super fun but also hard because I had to try and shoot while she was coming to tag me! The results were 3/5 to hayley when Hayley was shooting and 1/5 to me when I was shooting. I think their are definitely some eras in my game because their was not really a winner so I need to edit that and I also think I need to make the game a bit shorter because it felt a bit too long for each person. But I think after I fix those little hiccups it would be a great game to play! It was a super fun experiment and I will definitely keep working on it! My favourite part was making my rules on canva and I also added how to play the game. Overall I think I have some things to work on but this was a very fun activity! I hope all you blog readers have a great day! Thanks for reading todays blog post, blog to you later!

My Lovely Lazer Maze

Bonjour blog readers,

today I did the lazer maze challege ‘kick start’. I tried to make my lazers look a bit cofusing so the person getting through the lazers found it difficult. I thought an appropriate time would be 4 minutes and 50 seconds but now i’m thinking a bit of a shorter time. For improvements for next time I think I need to take away some of my garden stuff and put smaller things in instead because it looks a bit busy. Do you think it looks busy? I think because all  my lazers are connected and going in different angles it makes it look quite confusing so the person jumping the lazers might get caught! My favourite part was choosing what garden things to put in the backyard. I think next time I would add a pool somewhere because i’ve always wanted a pool in my backyard! What is your favourite plant in your backyard? I found this activity interesting and a bit tricky at the same time!  I have done lazer tag before and done a lazer maze and I got to chose level easy, medium or hard and it was really fun! Have you done a lazer maze before? Thanks for reading today’s blog post and if you have anything you think I could work on please let me know! Blog to you later!

My Wonderful Whenua!

Hey blog readers,

Today I did the Connecting with your Whenua, ‘Step It Up’ task. I found this task very fun and I liked that I got to take pictures while I went for a walk. The place I chose was Kennedy Park in Levin. Kennedy Park has been there for several years. People like coming down for a play, bike and to walk their dogs. I chose this place because I have been going to this park since I was little and it was actually the first park I had ever been to. I have a lot of memories at this park like walking my old dog Mags to the park with my dad, mum and sisters which are some of the reasons this park is special to me. What is a place that’s special to you?

There isn’t much about the history of Kennedy Park other than the fact that it was built mainly as a skatepark and a place for people to come and walk their dogs off the lead. There is no answer for who it’s named after or when it was built, but it is highly possible that it was named after president Kennedy (JFK). There are other streets like Roosevelt and MacArthur they are also very famous American names. The other information did not come back with many other answers unfortunately. That is all the history I have on Kennedy Park.

I enjoyed taking all the photo’s and walking with dad to the park. We got back from our holiday from New Plymouth today so it felt a bit rushed and I could’ve also make my images bigger on my collage. That’s todays blog post, blog to you later!

Happy Horse Trek!

Howdy Blog readers,

today I did the summer chat story step it up challenge! I chose to do the horse trek I did in Clive because I thought it was super fun and something I really enjoyed. I got to do it with my dad and my sister Maddi who is totally horse obsessed😀! My favourite part was putting the images on and writing my short story. I found it hard to put my short story into a text so it sounded good. Next time I think I would write my texts differently. Do you think I did the texts right? This horse trek has been one of my favourite holiday activities so far! What’s your favourite holiday activity been so far that you’ve done with your family and friends? I’m very happy with how my cactus boarder tuned out because I think it fits in with the western theme. It’s a western theme because at the horse trek place I used a western saddle like a cowgirl🤠! I also learnt a man in Japan invented emoji’s his name is Shigetaka Kurita. Emoji’s also quickly spread around the world which is why they are what they are now. I’m sorry my image is blurry, I tried to fix it but that was how it published on my blog. Thanks for reading todays blog post, blog to you later!

My Ravishing Rainbow Fish!

Hola Blog Readers

Today I did the rainbow fish step it up challenge. I created my animals and seaweed by using shapes and the curve tool on google draw. My favourite part was making my crab because I thought he turned out very cute! The steps to this task are pretty simple you download the google draw template of the summer learning journey site, find a texture you like for your fish and put it in the right shape, same for the fins and scales and finally you make other things to make it look like an ocean. The thing I need to work on for next time is my shark because I think the greys blended into each other so you can’t see his fin. I found this activity fun but a bit easy. I learnt about texture and how to make different shapes. What is your favourite sea creature? Thanks for reading todays blog post, blog to you later!

Captivating Code Or Cipher!

Kia Ora blog readers,

today I did the code or cipher step it up challenge. The summer learning journey task I chose was my favourite because I found it difficult and fun at the same time it was also super good because I learnt something new that I had never done before.  I won’t say the name of the task so you can solve the riddle in my slides, you may need a pen and paper! My favourite part was making my emoji riddle and finding out that a maunga on the slide is the same as mine (Hikurangi)!  I found the second code quite tricky because I had never seen a code like that before so I asked my dad for help and he explained how to do it. Next time I think I would do different coloured backgrounds on my slides. I found this task super fun and entertaining and a task I would definitely do again. What is your favourite emoji? Put it in your comment down below so I can see! That’s today’s blog post, blog to you later!

Nifty Notan Art Theme!

Hi Blog Readers,

today I created my own notan art on google draw! My theme was a farm which is why I chose to put a horse a sheep and a barn because they are common things you see on farms. Notan art is special because it is a Japanese art and the black and white symbolise negative and positive things. My favourite part was making the shape of the animals and the barn. I found it really hard to make my sheep because I kept making mistakes with the curve tool. Next time I would add maybe a sheep dog so it looks more farmy and do a different theme so I could try and make different shapes maybe disney! whats your favourite disney character?  I think notan art is super cool and it is a fun activity! I really like how it mine turned out and I think I made it look like a farm. What’s your favourite farm animal? Thanks for reading todays blog post blog to you later!
