My Superb Summer Beach Scene!

Today I created my own summer beach scene! I think this has been my favourite task so far because I LOVE going to the beach with my dog (Maggie) which is why I put a lady walking her dog! I learnt how to make the suns reflection in the water and how to make clouds with shapes. I found it tricky to make the palm trees because all the shapes were in specific places and I think I can make my palm trees look better next time. This task was challenging but very fun I really enjoyed creating my own beach scene! What is your favourite thing to do with your family at the beach?

Super Snakes And Ladders!

Today me and my family played the snakes and ladders game. I enjoyed rejogging my mind on all the timestables. I lost by a lot because I kept landing on snakes, but it was a close game between my mum, my sister and my aunty. I found this activity fun because I haven’t done timestables in a while and I liked doing it with my family. The game is simple all you have to do it answer the multiplication questions and roll the dice. If you land on a ladder you can climb up the ladder but if you land on a snake you have to slide back down. I found it tricky to think of different timetables for my own game, but overall I enjoyed this task! What is your favourite game to play with your family? Enjoy your Christmas break!

My Tongan Kie Kie

Today in Toroa class we did a summer learning journey task. For this task we either created a Kie Kie or a Ta’ovala both are traditional clothing from Tonga.  Kie Kie for example  they have 2 different types, one is for occasions such as weddings or birthdays and the other one is for funerals and it’s the same for Ta’ovala. They are also a sign of respect to their culture in Tonga because when they arrived at their land they weren’t in appropriate clothing so they tore their sail and made them in what we now know as Ta’ovala. The chief was so impressed at what they did to show respect so now that is what they wear as their cultural clothing. Kie Kie is very similar but it is a woman version with different accessories. I enjoyed designing my own Kie Kie and thinking of colours and shapes. Next time I think I would make it look a little bit more like the colours they wear in Tonga. Does your culture have a special clothing?

Groovy Pizza

Today in Toroa class we explored a new website for the summer learning journey. The website was called groovy pizza and on groovy pizza you created your own beats and different types of music. Part of the task was we also created our own album cover for our song. My favourite part was listening to my friends amazing music that they made and listening and then changing my own. Next time I think I would spend more time having a look on the website so the outcome of my song was better. Overall I really enjoyed creating my own music and learning about different artists when they created theirs. Have you ever created your own music?

Spirited Superheros

Today I created a superhero for the summer learning journey. I chose nature as her power because I thought it would represent New Zealand the best because there is lots of native plants in NZ. I enjoyed describing her and deciding her powers. I found it challenging to be very specific so it generated the superhero I wanted and thinking of her name. I think next time I would take more time in describing my superhero. Have you ever created your own superhero?

I hope you enjoyed this weeks blog post, blog to you next time!

12 Days Of Christmas!

Last week with Michelle we did the 12 days of Christmas task. We needed to fill out a sheet of how many presents we were going to get each day, then create a graph to show it. I chose this graph because I thought it looked a little bit like a Christmas tree and because it displays the information well. This was all inspired by the 12 days of Christmas song. I found it hard to find the right graph to display my work and I enjoyed learning about google sheets.

What do you and your Whanau (family) do for Christmas?

Clever Catfishing

Today we created a infographic on catfishing, scams or pop ups. I chose catfishing because I had never heard of it before and I wanted to find out what it was. First we had to watch a video about our topic then we created our infographic. I found it challenging to find images that would work for my topic. I learnt to be aware of catfishers because they can gather lots of information and use it against you. Have you ever heard of catfishing?

Successful Sumo Art!

In our cyber smart class today we had a play around on Sumo Paint. My favourite part was choosing what I wanted to draw. I found it hard to find the right paint to use for the petals, I Also think I rushed it a bit so it could have been a lot better. Some of the tools on sumo paint I found a bit hard to use like the texture paints. Have you ever used sumo paint before? Hope you enjoyed this blog post, blog to you later!

Fabulous Fake or Real Images!

In the Year 7 class today we have been learning about fake or real images. We had to complete a slide show with fake or real images and we had to find out which one they were. After we had completed that we had to create a pick a path of our own ,where we had to find images that were real and fake. In testing it out I found that most of my instructions were good but 1 needed clarification. My favourite part was finding the images online but I acctually found it hard to find real ones. I hope you enjoy doing my pick a path! Can you tell the difference between fake or real images?

Cool Collaborative Docs

Today me and my friend Sahra did a collaborative doc for cyber smart. We learnt that when we are doing collaborative work we have to respect what the other person’s doing and to work together to get it done! I found it challenging writing the story because we both took turns and we both had different ideas. My favourite part was playing tic tac toe although I didn’t win! Do you do collaborative work with your friends on docs?
